American Alpine Club Event – April 13 at 7PM

Posted on April 5, 2011

Hello everybody,

We’ll like to announce another cool event organized by American Alpine Club and hosted at Active Climbing.

Mr. Frank A. Nederhand , the Expedition Science Director, would love to talk about his original trip to the Cordillera Blanca. There will be a 50-60 minute slide show concerning that trip and he will then talk a little about what the Alpine Club plans to do this summer.

We have a $5 cover charge for folks to donate towards the event. We’ll have a Raffle at the end as well, with a couple of items from the Alpine Club and few things from Active Climbing as well.
Total time of the event … 1.5 to 2 hours start at 7:00!

Invite your friends and come on over, have a good time!

Specials thanks to Mr. Frank for making this event possible!

USA Climbing 2011 Season Opener Comp on Feb 26th

Posted on January 20, 2011

Here we are again, the ropes season is coming up soon!

Come enjoy our set up with two separate rooms, one for mostly beginners and another one for intermediate to advance climbers. Top ropes, lead and maybe still few boulder problems – “only” 25 feet long. Rocky, our friendly giant will wait for you.

Let’s try to get organize to make the comp run faster and with no delays!

First, make sure you register with USA Climbing if you want to compete all the way to World Cup.
Take time and visit the USA Climbing official website.

Pre-register for the comp by email Adrian by Monday Feb 21st at 10PM and you’ll pay $35 plus get a cool T-shirt.

If you had missed the deadline for pre-registering, no worries, you can still compete this Saturday. The price is $45. If we have extra t-shirts you can have one for free, but there is no guarantee.
Non-USA Climbing competitors will pay $5 extra fee.
Free to spectators. We’ll have a goood local coffee brewery ready to wake you up! $2 a cup.

When you send your info, please include the full name of the competitor, the division and the T-shirt size ( Youth Small, YM, YL, Adult Small, M, L or XL).
You’ll pay the day of the comp. Have the gym waiver filled out even if you have been climbing here before. Attach the check ( made to Active Climbing) to the waiver and have the USA Climbing number written on the bottom of the page just so we’ll have that handy. Paul will advice us if we need to make any changes. Please visit our website as we get close to the date for updated details.

Gym opens for registration at 8:30. By 10 AM we hope to have everybody checked in. Climbing rules and meetings done by 10:30, climbing starts at 10:30 until 1PM (maybe 1:30), awards by 2:30.
